ATA’s Pauanui Bach 'Teranui' designed to cater for two families took out the Residential New Home between 150m2 and 300m2 category for the Waikato Region. Teranui then went on to be a 2018 ADNZ National Finalist keeping company with the top designs around New Zealand.
The bach provides multiple private spaces while not compromising the camping ground feel. Taylor says the slightly awkward form was inspired by the Pauanui ranges. In announcing the award, the judges said the design evokes memories of the baches from the ’50s and ’60s. “This house is setup really well for two families who enjoy fishing and features generous living spaces. The exterior and internal areas have materials chosen for minimum maintenance.”
*Since winning the ADNZ regional award this architectural beauty also won the Registered Master Builders Bay of Plenty/Central Plateau House of the Year thanks to the precise craftsmanship of 90 Degrees Construction.
